Are you interested in learning how to perform CPR and operate an AED (automated external defibrillator)?

HMS is offering students an opportunity to become certified in Heartsaver CPR/AED for Adult and Child. This 2-hour course will be held after school from 3:15 to 5:15. The cost is $40, which includes all materials and a certification card upon completion.

Why get certified?

Many of you are starting to babysit. Imagine how much more comfortable parents would be leaving their children with a babysitter who is certified in CPR.  Some of you live with older grandparents and family members who are more susceptible to heart disease.  Learning CPR could help save the lives of these loved ones in a cardiac emergency.  And, maybe next summer you want to become a junior camp counselor or a lifeguard.  CPR certification could make you more qualified for these kinds of jobs than someone who is not certified!

If you would like to become certified in CPR, please discuss it with your parents to be sure someone is available to pick you up by 5:15, and then sign up using the form below.  The certification only takes one 2-hour session, but please select multiple dates that you are available in case your first choice is already filled.

*Note: If you were certified last year, your certification is good for 2 years so you do not need to be recertified at this time.

CPR/AED Course Sign-Up

The form is due by Friday, October 26th.  You will be contacted by Wednesday, October 30th with your course date, payment information and additional details.

Additional course dates will be sent out in January for those who do not get into the fall dates or who aren't available until the spring.

If you have any questions regarding the course, please contact Ms. Kay at [email protected] or see me in room B11.
